Detailed Description

(Include Screen Shots if required )

SAP doesn't support MTO contracts and so a workaround is suggested to NE.Itproposed using a delivery block Z5 to make sure that the process works and the call offs do not generate additional demand. However, all our demos and tests with Headwear and never tested with Apparel. But off late we had seen MTO Contracts coming in for Apparel too and unfortunately that same process did not work even with the delivery block Z5 being moved to NEP and the call offs having the block set. The block did stop the call offs from generating duplicate demand but because Apparel items use a different requirement type, the whole process which we suggested earlier for Headwear was not working correctly.

That is when it is realised to have a new process in place so that it works for both Headwear and Apparel and tested with Idocs too in NEQ to make sure it would work with EDI.

Please note that we had just presented a process POC to Jeff and we had reserved such strategic questions for further discussion after the process was reviewed. I think this is that phase and we can start planning on those once you review the process.

Analysis and Recommendations

(Include Screen Shots if required)

This process might broadly have two cases -
1: The call offs come in after the stock is completely produced for the contract.
2: The call offs come in whilst the Production Order is still in WIP for the Contract.

Case 1 was what was shown in the document sent. Delivery block need not be used in that process as Arun would transfer stock from contract to call off and there would be no duplicate demand generated from call offs.

Case 2 cannot allocate as there is no stock yet and so the call offs would generate new demand and hence the call offs need to have a Z5 block set. However this would affect BI and such orders wouldn't show in BI in the open order report.

Resolution

A new process was developed for Apparels to handle MTO contracts without any issues.
